Liceo di Walliscote Road, Sezione Studi Integrati: una via di mezzo tra un bazar della mecca, un torneo internazionale di ping pong con mezzi di fortuna e un punto di scambio di sostanze stupefacenti. Centinaia di ragazzi, tutti professionisti nell’arte dello scippo, della prostituzione e dello spaccio, cercano con tutte le loro forze di non apprendere alcunché.
In un vortice di situazioni surreali, sesso, rave party e gerarchia militare, la scuola diventa la più esilarante caricatura di se stessa. A capo dei progetti eversivi contro la burocrazia scolastica, coinvolgendo ciurme di studenti, si fa strada Caleb Duck, supplente del Direttore di Dipartimento: in un delirio crescente di onnipotenza e desiderio di liberazione dal sistema, arruola i peggiori elementi della scuola affinché collaborino al suo fantasmagorico progetto di emancipazione da qualsiasi regola formale.
A metà strada tra una parodia delirante de Il signore delle mosche e una versione fine millennio di Arancia meccanica, Il Signore dei Lombrichi fa a brandelli il sistema scolastico e le teorie sull’educazione con lo humour dissacrante, caustico e irresistibile di Jack Allen che, al suo esordio narrativo, dimostra già di avere la stoffa del grande narratore.
