Vajrayogini: Her Visualization, Rituals, and Forms

Vajrayogini: Her Visualization, Rituals, and Forms (Studies in Indian and Tibetan Buddhism) by Elizabeth English

2002 | ISBN: 086171329X | English | 608 pages | EPUB | 3 MB

Vajrayogini is a tantric goddess from the highest class of Buddhist tantras who manifests the ultimate development of wisdom and compassion. Her practice is prevalent today among practitioners of Tibetan Buddhism. This ground-breaking book delves into the origins of Vajrayogini, charting her evolution in India and examining her roots in the Cakrasamvara tantra and in Indian tradition relating to siva.

The focus of this work is the Guhyasamayasadhanamala, a collection of forty-six sadhanas, or practice texts. Written on palm leaves in Sanskrit and preserved since the twelfth century, this diverse collection, composed by various authors, reveals a multitude of forms of the goddess, each of which is described and illustrated here. One of the sadhanas, the Vajravarahi Sadhana by Umapatideva, depicts Vajrayogini at the center of a mandala of thirty-seven different goddesses, and is here presented in full translation alongside a Sanskrit edition. Elizabeth English provides extensive explanation and annotation of this representative text. Sixteen pages of stunning color plates not only enhance the study but bring the goddess to life.

Inequalities for Differential Forms (repost)

Inequalities for Differential Forms by Ravi P. Agarwal and Shusen Ding

English | 2009 | ISBN: 0387360344, 1489983511 | 370 pages | PDF | 1,9 MB

This monograph is the first one to systematically present a series of local and global estimates and inequalities for differential forms, in particular the ones that satisfy the A-harmonic equations. The presentation focuses on the Hardy-Littlewood, Poincare, Cacciooli, imbedded and reverse Holder inequalities. Integral estimates for operators, such as homotopy operator, the Laplace-Beltrami operator, and the gradient operator are discussed next. Additionally, some related topics such as BMO inequalities, Lipschitz classes, Orlicz spaces and inequalities in Carnot groups are discussed in the concluding chapter. An abundance of bibliographical references and historical material supplement the text throughout.

This rigorous presentation requires a familiarity with topics such as differential forms, topology and Sobolev space theory. It will serve as an invaluable reference for researchers, instructors and graduate students in analysis and partial differential equations and could be used as additional material for specific courses in these fields.

Forms of Old Testament Literature: Isaiah 1-39 with an Introduction to Prophetic Literat: With Introduction to Prophetic Literature by Marvin A. Sweeney

English | 30 Jan. 1996 | ISBN: 0802841007 | 568 Pages | PDF | 24 MB

Fundamentally exegetical, the FOTL volumes examine the structure, genre, setting, and intention of the biblical literature in question. They also study the history behind the form-critical discussion of the material, attempt to bring consistency to the terminology for the genres and formulas of the biblical literature, and expose the exegetical proce

Life Forms and Meaning Structure

Life Forms and Meaning Structure by Alfred Schutz

English | Oct. 22, 2013 | ISBN: 0415703042 | 232 Pages | PDF | 10.67 MB

This volume contains a translation of four early manuscripts by Alfred Schutz, unpublished at the time, written between 1924 and 1928. The publication of these four essays adds much to our knowledge and appreciation of the wide range of Schutz’s phenomenological and sociological interests. Originally published in 1987. The essays consist of: a challenging presentation of a phenomenology of cognition and a treatment of Bergson’s conceptions of images, duration, space time and memory; a discussion of the meanings connected with the grammatical forms of language in general; a consideration of the relation between meaning-contents and literary forms in poetry, literary prose narration and dramatic presentation; and an examination of resemblances and differences in the inner forms and characteristics of the major theatrical art forms.
